How can one prepare for the prayer of Qiyam Al Layl and Duas for Qiyam ul Layl?

The stages to execute Qiyam al Layll and Qiyam dua are as follows:

Make a Strong Intention

Before you go to bed, all you want to do is make a sincere intention. During the final third of the night, it will entice you with a secret power that will force you to get out of your cozy bed.

Go to bed earlyย

After Salah al Aishah, go to bed early to ensure you receive enough rest. Avoid staying up late.

Don’t forget to set the Alarm Clock

Set your alarm clock to wake you up during the final third of the night.

Complete Your Wudu Before Going to Bed

It is Allah’s will that if you conduct your Wudhu before going to sleep, the Shayttan will be driven away. You also repeat the wudu once you awaken, and you begin your qiyam with two rakats.

It’s important to remember that your inner intentions determine the type of prayer you do at night, be it Taubah, Tahajjud, or any other sort of prayer.

Ways to pray Tahajjudย

First Step:

Determine the best time to pray Tahajjud. If you split the night into thirds, the last, the middle third is the most moral. Durr al-Mukhtar, Haskafi. The second part of the night is more virtue-oriented if one splits it in two.ย

It is best to split the night into six parts; sleep should be had in the first three, worship and the tahajjud prayer should be done in the fourth and fifth, and then, as this is Dawud A.S.’s salah, sleep should be had in the sixth.

Step Number Two:

Declare that you want to offer a voluntary prayer (tahajjud).

Step Number Three:

Declare your objective when you pray (for Allah’s sake).

Step Number Four:

Say the two rakats of the minimum night prayer. It is advised to begin with two short rakats, nevertheless, as the Prophet (PBUH) practiced the required eight rakats. Furthermore, a longer recitation during tahajjud is preferable to praying more rakats.

Step Number Five:

The whole recompense stated in the Quran and Hadiths relates to worship preceded by sleep, even if the tahajjud salah can be performed after the isha salah. The definition of tahajjud, which is the effort to break free from sleep, also makes this clear. (Radd al-Muhtar and Ibn Abidin).

Step Number Six:

After that, I normally offer my daily prayers for any issues that are most important to my family and me.

It should be remembered that the tahajjud prayer period runs from isha salah to fajr salah. Consequently, any voluntary prayers offered after fajr time would not be recognized as tahajjud prayers. Furthermore, unless there is a good reason to stop, it is despised to stop practicing tahajjud.

What distinguishes Tahajjud from Qiyam Al Layl?

  • The custom of spending the whole night, or at least a part of it (even if it’s only an hour), performing acts of devotion, such as reading the Quran, praying, remembering Allah (dhikr), and other similar practices, is known as qiyam al layl.
  • “Al layl” is Arabic for “the night,” and “qiyam” is Arabic for “standing.” As a result, “Qiyam Al-Layl” essentially means staying up late praying.
  • Spending most of the night in worship is not necessary.
  • Qiyam Al Layl can be performed before bed or after.

Tahajjud:

  • The term “Tahajjud” especially alludes to nighttime prayer.
  • The concept of Tahajjud, according to some scholars, is restricted to prayers said at night after going to bed.
  • The name “Tahajjud” derives from the word “hujood,” which may refer to either staying up late or going to sleep. Tahajjud, then, is just getting up from a night of sleep to pray.
